how it all started

It all started in ‘07. We came up with a great plan to organise a quarterly stage aimed at upcoming Bands, Singers, Dancers, Visual and Spoken Word Artists. Our purpose was supporting artists promotional and financially. We did this for 5 years, organised about 20 events and promoted/supported nearly 200 artist. We had a great time doning all of this, but we ran into one challenge how to manage our digital promotion outlets. With the fast growth of digital promotional tools and social outlets, a full multi-channel communication strategy was required. Having 2 projects, each project had a website, multiple social media pages, which added up to 10 main channels we needed to maintain, it became a challenge. But it was our purpose and we managed, but talking with our Artists we would hear that they faced similar challenges. Setting up an website is costly, mainting all social media pages is time consuming and converting that effort in revenue, was even harder.

After 5 years we decided to take our purpose digital and help those struggling artist and similar projects like ours. We aimed to relieve them as musch as possible of all those none related tasks such as creating and/or promoting and/or monitizing their music, events and platforms. We strated with an event site. Great, but lacked a solid revenue model. We then headed on to improved our idea, iterating our idea several times, resulting in musicjunki.es a digital solution, that meets a marketplace that meets social space, unifing Creators, Consumers, Partners and Payments in one space.

musicjunki.es is all about bringing toghether Creators, Consumers and Partners to present, promote music related content on a local scale. A solution that is aimed to share the joy, wealth and successes that come with music.

musicjunki.es aims to empower Creators by adding a tipping solution. A payment solution that they fully own and engages with their fans to promote and support the Artist both promtional as financial.

musicjunki.es aims to always stay independant, so no large business or any investor can ever force us to to sell your data for more and more revenue. We can only achieve this as we, you the Artist and us,have a equality model, where we provide the service and you support that service by joining and upgrading to a paid plan. Free online stuff, only means your data is being sold, by having this mutual agrrment we can guarantee that our platform will always stay neutral, your data stays yours and always has your benefit as primairy goal.

the build phase zero

This build, Phase Zero, set the foundation for the future. A platform connecting Fans, Partners, Events & Venues with the Artist & their music. The phase zero features already reduce workload & maintenance costs and converts success in promotion & revenue for the Artists. The main features are Pages, Portals and Payments, connecting and inviting Artist and Fans to interact, grow the platform and support the Artist & 'Local' Music.

This eventually became our pay-off, Get Paid, Get Promoted & Get Found. A mini viral loop that captures and translates success into better rankings, which leads to more exposure, which leads to an increased change for lamding gigs and generating revenue, and so on.

Get(ting) Paid

Artists Get Paid when Fans trigger Boosts for the Artist's Videos and/or Page. Boosts, similar to a Paid Like, are an essential feature for Artist to be able to convert each like into revenue & promotion. Next to generating revenue, Boosts literally let Fans buy views, which will improve the ranking score, resulting in what we call, climbing the 'local' charts in City Portals.

To unlock the Boost feature, Artists, will need to upgrade to a paid account. When doing so, Artists will setup their self-owned payment channel provided by an external payment provider. All tips and revenue will be directly deposited to their accounts, minus transactions and portal fees. This approach ensures that Artists are in full controle of their own revenu, are the main beneficiary of any generated revenue and not the platform.

Get(ting) Promoted

Artist can Get Promoted when they setup an Page presenting the Artist and their best videos. This page automatically shares it's contents with related Portals based on info such as city, profession and genre. Portals increases the online reach and exposure based on the current Ranking.

This Ranking can be manipulated by inviting Fans to Boost their content and/or Page. The more Boost a video or page receives, the more the ranking increases, which will lead to higher mentions in lists and charts in related Portals.

Get(ting) Found

Get(ting) Found is the cherry on the cake. The reward for having a Page, for showing your top Musicvideo(s), having enabled Boosts & mobilized Fans to Boost and climb local City Portal Chart. Improving online reach and findability results in more views bij unknown visitors, that might become Fans. Fueling the cycle of growing your audience, online reach and converting this into more promotions and revenue.

And that's how musicjunki.es works. We deliver the tools so you, as an Artist, can set up a Page, activate payments, get Fans to show support, and grow your own business, while growing the platform as a whole.

Community Portal
Groups such as band, ensembles, but also theaters or stages can start private portals. Where Artist can only participate based on a invite by Portal Owner. Artist can agree and indicate which content can be shared via that portal. These Portal Pages have the samen basis features as Pages or Websites.

Platform Guidelines & Rules

Since we are public platform, we do have to uphold some Guidelines & Rules, to ensure that our platform is used only and exactly for what and who it's meant for, a platform for only music related activities. Lets' go:

Only music creatores such as Artists, Musicians, Instrumentalist, Singers, Singer-Writers, DJ's Producers, etc are allowed to create an Page.
Only Businesses Partners such as Venues, Stages, Theaters, Foundations, Companies and other Public locations who are either active within the music industry are allowed to be actively involved within our platform. Be it as linked Partner/Sponsor or as Business Page/Portal.
Only music related content is allowed to be shared using our Pages, Portals and/or Events. Music related content are Music Videos, Music Streams and/or Promotional Videos and all updates/post related to music, videos, pages & portals.
If your page does not match these criteria, we can remove your page from our community.
If you abuse our platform, by using it for other purposes then sharing your music related content, we will delete your page without notice.
If you abuse our platform, by using it for other purposes then supporting, promgramming and/or promoting music related content as a Buisness, we will delete your page without notice.
If you have added your page for promotional reasons, which feels like spam, , we will delete your page without notice.
If your page is not approriated, or uses not allowed pagenames, or you're impersonating someone else, or anything that isn't complaining to the rules, we will report your page for deletion.

Flagging inappropiate Pages, Content and/or Events. If you, as an User or Visitor, come across a Page, Content and/or Event that is violation with our Privacy, Terms, Acceptable Use and/or these Guidelines, you can report this to us using the feedback button located in on the bottom right in your screen. There is an option to report this to our team using the Flagged Content option.
